Less than a week, I will be heading back to Indonesia, after a memorable 2 years living in Europe. In this post (and maybe some more post in the future) I will mention a series of 10 things list regarding my life in Europe and Indonesia.

Now I will start 10 things why I will miss Europe (especially Belgium) and why it will make me want to come back.

  1. Efficiency : It doesn’t take a lot of effort to be efficient but in result it cause a great impact to make our lives easier. I love how people in Belgium makes things a lot more efficient. I have a lot of example but one of them for example the public service of the city council, makes their service very easy for us. Compared to back home (Indonesia), Indonesia really needs to learn from them.
  2. Cleanliness : I love to walk to campus, breathe the fresh air (without pollution), and not seeing garbage all around (ok I lied, actually some cities in Europe are dirty but again compared to back home, Europe is far better).
  3. Parks: Yes I said parks (because my son loves to play there). Well you might ask, theres a lot of parks in Indonesia, yeah but here the parks are more clean (look at no. 2) and they are well treated, most of all free. I haven’t a place I remember back in Bandung-Indonesia, a place for my son to play (well again I probably exaggerate).
  4. Transportation: This is a mixture of my experience on riding bikes, public bus, trains, flights in Europe. I love how they manage the transportation, not like in my city where roads are full of angkot.
  5. People: Some people say that modernized civilization will cause people to be less friendly. I find this hypothesis wrong, because I met a lot of wonderful Europeans who are indeed very friendly, honest and open minded.
  6. Historical Landmarks: I haven’t discovered Europe to the max and I think I should go back here and learn more about the historical aspects of each city. Interesting remaining landmarks of the past are very nice to visit. Each city has its own story and traveling Europe is so wonderful with so many places to discover.
  7. Money: I get more money here than back home
  8. Health: We live a healthier life here (I think).
  9. Internet: In Europe I breathe Internet in other words I’m addicted, probably because the bandwidth and speed is supporting my needs.
  10. Shoes: Yes, I love shoes so much. First of all (this is a revealed secret), I have an uncommon size and its hard for me to find my size in Indonesia. Here, its just like heaven, I can choose whatever model I like, not just because it fits.

Ok.. thats enough for the list, on the next post I will tell you 10 things why I won’t miss Belgium/Europe.
