another top 10 things list
Hi readers, as I promised, I have this post as a sequel to the previous post. I will tell you 10 things why I miss Indonesia/why I won’t miss Belgium. Ok, here we go!
- Weather: Four season is ok for the first experience. I actually enjoy cool weather but I happen to not enjoy the winter and Belgium climate. At a point I really can’t stand the cold weather and this stressed me causing me to be sick (running nose). So the conclusion is, enjoying the warmth of the sun is far better.
- Family and Friends: I enjoy and cherish the presence of my closest family and friends and it is hard being far away from them.
- Food and Drinks: Exotic Indonesian food and drinks is far more delicious than Belgium food. Back home there are a variety of delicious food to choose, even though my wife prepare some food, but certainly we miss all types of food (we can only imagine the taste).
- Price: Almost everything in Belgium is expensive compared to Indonesian standard. Although it is normal but I prefer living in a cheap standard.
- The nature: Tropical landscape is where I want to be. Although environment is polluted, certainly it could be made better.
- Working rhythm: Although I can work hard, I enjoy a slower pace of life rythm. Sometimes I get to the edge and can’t stand the pressure, but certainly working hard is important!
- Religious needs: The comfort zone is back home.
- People: I mentioned people in the previous list.. but.. I also miss the typical Indonesian hospitality, the sense of humor, etc.
- Existence: In Europe, my status is a foreigner, therefore sometimes we are not treated equally like the locals, probably because of the language barrier. I am who I am back home.
- Self-actualization: To actualize yourself, first you must exist. I can imagine back home is the place to be.
If you can see from the list, most of them are regarding the personal needs which is generally being loved, having a self esteem and self actualization. Referring to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, those factors are what we want most. True? For me yes..
Thank you!

iyah… the sense of humor….. ini yang hilang kalo kita nggak diIndonesia…
humor Indonesia lebih natural, kadang norak tapi noraknya itu yg bikin lucu…..lalu orang Indonesia itu heboh dan hangat….
